Little Fox sets off to explore the forest, looking for prey to bring back to the den. Suddenly, he spots a bright and beautiful light…He decides at once — that’s the one he’s going to catch!
As he moves away from the den, Little Fox feels the first dead leaves of late summer crunching beneath his paws. A gentle breeze softens the night’s warmth and makes the leaves of the trees quiver. Little Fox looks around: all is calm. Only a dance of fireflies brings life to the darkness.

A story that draws us deep into the magical world of the forest, brought to life with beautiful illustrations featuring shimmering and sparkling highlights on the cover and inside the book. This tender tale explores a child’s first steps towards independence — little readers will easily see themselves in the fox.

About the author: A young journalist, Julie Lardon began her career at Radio France before spending a few years at Agence France-Presse. In 2016, she created Albert, a fortnightly magazine that explains current affairs to children aged 8 to 13.

About the illustrator: Fabienne Cinquin was born in Aubusson on 1 October 1970, to parents who were both professors at the School of Decorative Arts. After discovering children’s literature in a new way at university, she studied at the Fine-Arts School in Lyon under illustrator Jean Claverie, graduating in 1995. She then taught visual arts while creating illustrations, and in 2003 she devoted herself entirely to illustration, working on posters, press, logos, and murals.
