A Queen in Danger

Volume 2.
Raia and Ani, both 12, live in the palace of Ramses II. Raia is the young maid of the royal wife Nefertari, while Ani is the assistant to a scribe. A grand celebration in honour of Ramses II is being prepared at the palace. But Khufu, Nefertari’s favourite lion, has gone missing!

The queen tasks Raia and Ani with investigating discreetly. The lion keeper is questioned, but without success. Then dozens of scarabs die in the queen’s chambers — only to come back to life! Could the gods be sending threatening messages? And if so, why?

That very evening, Nefertari is kidnapped. Pearls from her torn necklace, scattered on the floor, lead Raia, Ani, and Horus the cat to the palace stables…
