After the confrontation at the port of Le Havre, Edgar is rescued at the last moment by the Cariatids, an independent government hiding on an old oil platform. But as the grandson of the disgraced former president, he will only be accepted if he completes a very specific mission: travelling to the Scandinavian Union to persuade his grandmother, an undisputed figure of the Resistance, to join the movement and bring down the Ninth Republic.

Jo, meanwhile, finally finds relative safety by settling into the Cariatids’ organised way of life. But her respite is short-lived. While away from the base, she falls into the hands of the Raptures, who take her to the Maternity Institutes. Despite the abuse she suffers there, she clings to a single hope: to unite her fellow women and lead them into revolt.

Separated, Jo and Ed will have to fight their hardest battle yet, in the hope of finally bringing an end to the system that oppresses them.

A thrilling conclusion to the duology, where strategy and alliances take centre stage. The stakes are clear: bring down the system. The Cariatides and Edgar seek an alliance with the Scandinavian Union to attack France, while Jo risks everything to lead the women of the Maternity Institute into revolt. The result is an epic finale of sacrifice, targeted attacks and revolution.

The first book sold more than 10,000 copies in a year, and readers have been eagerly awaiting the sequel.

About the author: Tosca Noury was born in 2003 and grew up in Aix-en-Provence. Passionate about books and writing from an early age, she began sharing her work online at 13 and self-published her first poetry collection, La force de vivre, four years later. Her second collection, De l’orage naît un soleil, was reissued in 2022 by Le Courrier du Livre. Since 2016, she has shared her passion for writing and reading on social media and through her podcast, LitThéRatures. After studying political science in Lyon, London and Dublin, she now divides her time between filmmaking and writing. Based in Paris, where she is studying journalism and documentary filmmaking, she escapes the capital whenever she can to explore. She never stays still—much like the characters in Dissidentes, her first YA duology. When she is not behind her camera, she is behind her keyboard, bringing the worlds in her head to life.
