Content : “My head is a ball of yarn that thinks in all directions”.

This story is about the difficulties of organizing one's thoughts, the impact on daily life and the creative richness that results.
Our character describes his mind as a ball of thinking threads in constant turmoil. From the moment he wakes up in the morning, his thoughts are in constant motion, making him sometimes clumsy and distracted. He will discover that these disordered threads are a source of richness, and learn to find moments when his thoughts become harmonious.
Finally, he embraces his creativity by pulling a thread at random, letting his thoughts roam free to invent unique stories and ideas, to the point of astonishing others and “tying their brains in knots”.

Through everyday scenes and striking visual metaphors, this book tells how a child learns to transform the whirlwind of his thoughts into a source of inspiration and joy. This inner journey, sometimes chaotic, often funny, invites young and old alike to better understand the forces within us, and to turn them into precious allies. This picture book is not just a beautiful story. It offers a wonderful opportunity to discuss the richness of our differences, our emotions, and how each child can find his or her own balance.

Rich in texture and colour, the gouache illustrations captivate the eye of young readers and feed their imagination.

About the author: Estelle Vonfeldt is an author, illustrator and scriptwriter. Originally from the north of France, she now lives in Paris. She misses the French fries of the North, and the natural surroundings in which she grew up. Does she take refuge in creation to forget? No, but it is an interesting theory. She has already published two picture books with A2MIMO. Her third book marks her very first collaboration with Un dimanche après-midi.

About the illustrator: Marie Deligny is a talented illustrator from Toulouse, France, and a graduate of the École Estienne. Passionate about capturing the beauty of everyday life, she favours gouache, a medium that allows her to explore the richness of textures and colours. Her artistic approach, both joyful and meditative, invites us to slow down and savour the simplicity of fleeting moments. Her creations, imbued with delicacy and authenticity, seduce with their ability to make the simplest scenes extraordinary.
