Content : Leonor is a very angry little girl. What helps her channel this overwhelming rush of emotions? Her visits to Saint Petunia Cemetery, where she can sit beside her favourite grave and write for hours, undisturbed by her family, who do not understand her, or by her classmates, who think she is strange. Her only source of support is her grandmother Hortense, an eccentric, lively woman who encourages her in everything she does.
One day, when Leonor visits the cemetery as usual, she comes across a little girl called Daisy… who happens to be a ghost! But Daisy cannot remain among the living. Will Leonor be able to help her new friend cross over to the other side?
An author who draws us into her gothic world: In her first novel for young readers, the author creates a wonderfully macabre world, punctuated by welcome touches of humour.
Leonor is going through the difficult transition from primary school to secondary school, facing powerful and important themes such as bullying and managing her emotions. These experiences shape her journey and reflect the challenges of this pivotal stage in her life. Leonor is bullied by her classmates because of her supposedly dark interests and the white streak in her hair. By the end of the story, she finds the strength to confront her bullies and free herself from their hold, with the next chapter of her life at secondary school firmly in sight.
