Content : The Art of book embellishment.
This book is much more than a simple DIY guide. It is an invitation to create the library you have always dreamed of. Driven by the growing popularity of collector’s editions and the influence of BookTok and Bookstagram communities, sprayed-edges are enjoying a true revival. More and more readers are looking to personalise their books, create their own designs and transform their favourite novels into works of art.
Accessible to beginners and experienced crafters alike, this book is aimed at a young, social-media-savvy audience as well as DIY enthusiasts and traditional bookbinding aficionados looking for a new creative outlet.
Designed as a progressive, beautifully illustrated and inspiring guide, the book is divided into two main sections:
• Spray-Edging — from the history of the technique and accessible materials to colour theory, followed by detailed step-by-step instructions for creating plain, gradient, floral, stencil, geometric and multi-volume saga designs across the page edges.
• Hand bookbinding — from the origins of the medieval codex to hardback covers, with step-by-step instructions for creating a rigid binding from an existing paperback book.
The book is further enhanced with QR codes linking to video tutorials, as well as a gallery of real-life examples, with each project discussed and explained individually.
A complete, progressive and beautifully illustrated guide to creating one-of-a-kind books, with clear step-by-step instructions throughout.
