Fourteen-year-old Charles works on the construction of the Statue of Liberty in Paris. One evening, he notices some strange goings-on around the statue and discovers a hidden message deep inside the Copper Lady. He soon realises that a conspiracy is being hatched to delay the project — and perhaps even bring it to a halt.
At the same time, Charles is accused of stealing the notebook belonging to Bartholdi, the sculptor behind the statue.

About the author: Sabine Stamm was born in 1986. After studying art history and history, she became a cultural educator working with children. She has worked at the Musée des Arts et Métiers since 2011. In 2016, she had her son and published her first book. She is the author of several historical novels for children.
