The City of Embers and Fangs

Content : 21st October 1901.
After seven years in exile, Cécile Gaultier returns to Paris with her familiar, Semiramis. As a special agent for the Orgueil Institute, she is given a difficult mission: to track down the culprit behind a series of child murders that has terrorised the capital for several weeks.

And as if that were not enough, she is assigned Frémont, a tracker accompanied by his lynx, Farouche — both of whom have little love for the city or the crush of human crowds…Together, can they uncover the terrible conspiracy that threatens to turn the world they know upside down?

A race against time begins as they struggle to prevent further murders before Halloween night…

About the author: A lifelong lover of Montmartre, Mip Ruberto Sanquer lived there for around twenty years, and it was this much-loved neighbourhood that provided the setting for the plot of La Ville de braises et de crocs, which was shortlisted for the 2024 Actusf Uchronia Prize. Today, she draws inspiration from La Rochelle, where she loves to breathe in the sea air while walking her dog. She returns home refreshed and ready to write, with a good pot of tea always by her side through every part of her life: writing, family and tea-time with friends.
